  • Update VIN Number of SRS Modules

    Hi

I want to replace a damaged airbag module unti with a used airbag module, having the same part number, both cleared crash data but different VIN numbers. So how can I update/program/code the used airbag module to match the VIN number of the original car? The airbag modules for Mazda are VIN specific and has to be programmed/coded.

    Part Number: TK52-57K30
    CRASH IN: XC2361A
Model of Vehicle: Mazda CX-9 2020 Touring

    Thanks

If the original SRS ECU can communicate via CAN, just connect to SmartOBD and use AirbagCANServiceTool to read the EERPOM. Then write this data to the used SRS ECU.

Yeah I can do that but the VIN numbers are different for each SRS unit. Is that going to couse any troubles or errors?

If you write the original data into your used SRS ECU, the VIN number should change to the original one.

yes i have swapped Eeprom data successfully on some modules successfully and the VIN does change but i tried that method recently with a volvo module (can’t remember which one sorry) but VIN didn’t change? so i was thinking maybe on volvo modules VIN is stored both in Eeprom & CPU, can you confirm this maybe?
